HSSA From 2005 to 2009
HSAA Club was formed on 26th October 2005 starting with 23 members and has grown rapidly over the last 4 years to the position now where we are rapidly nearing 200 members Nationally and Internationally.
Our club has demonstrated and prospered because the enthuses is on fellowship, participation and having fun plus the membership makes the decisions, for these reason we have prospered. This issue has included photo’s of as many cars as possible belonging to the formation members in centre page, my apologies if I missed anyone.
The newsletter Team has advised the executive committee we need to take a break from club duties for now as the work load in producing the newsletter has stopped us from getting our cars ready for club days, we need to have more time to ourselves so we to can have fun at club events.
We give the new newsletter team all our support and will continue to help with articles from time to time and trust the newsletter will continue in its current form and go from strength to strength as we know how popular the current newsletter is received both Nationally and Internationally.
Best wishes from the team,
Howard Marks, Geoff Rutledge, Bob Turnbull.
Nuts & Bolts
First up , let me wish all HSAA members and friends a very merry Christmas and hope all, have a very happy new year. 09 has been a very busy year again for members with record number of Club days, demonstrations at speedway meetings and several displays and demo's at provincial shows ,Several show committee’s have ask for our reappearance in 2010 , speedway's including tracks that we have not attended before and our normal yearly appearance at others, make next year look like being very busy.
I do feel very privileged for being part of the HSAA from it's formation over four year ago until now, starting from humble beginnings and seeing our membership grow to where it is today , starting to push the 200 mark and having a vehicle list of 100 (Many people outside of the association said it wouldn't work , well to my way of thinking it in some ways has worked maybe too well, as I believe the biggest problem in the HSAA is growing pains, but I am sure with all working together this problem we will overcome.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who has helped over this time, not one to normally mention names , as someone always get left out, but I will thank Geoff Rutledge , Bob Turnbull and Bob Ottaway and Michelle Pesschier for all their help in producing what I believe to be one of the most accepted newsletters in the Vintage speedway world. Michele for all the help in printing the VARs and manning the desk on club days and collecting fees and to Geoff for helping keep the club membership register up to date.
As of Monday the 7th December, I have stepped down from the committee as vice president and all other jobs I have been associated with, not because of any ill feeling with the HSAA or it's members, But I am tired, worn out and just cannot keep the work going that I have enjoyed so much doing, Plus I need some time to enjoy other aspects of the HSAA, such as getting the midget going and having some drives and getting some of my restorations done .I know other members will step up and take on the work, and anything I can do to help get them started with I will do. Once again Thanks Its been a Pleasure .........................
